I did enjoy the conceit of the Vulcans. Most of them have always had an attitude of quiet, smug, superiority. Nice to see them not-so-quiet about it. I also enjoyed seeing that Spock does indeed have some feelings.Granitehewer wrote:i especially liked the scenes at the vulcan science academy and the conceited attitudes of the vulcans which ties in nicely with ''enterprise''

I'd often wondered HOW Vulcans would go about bullying Spock. Now I know
They say that in the Army,
the women are mighty fine.
They look like Phyllis Diller,
and walk like Frankenstein.

Yeah, and it turns out that Spock could always kick some serious arse.Mark wrote:I'd often wondered HOW Vulcans would go about bullying Spock. Now I know

I loved the looks on the faces of the Vulcan kids when he started to beat that one bully's ass.

That for me has to have been one of the greatest moment's of the movie. The arrogant vulcan child, credit to the young actor, was played flawlessly to my image of what vulcan children would be like: Firmly inserted into their own rectum.
Re: Rate The Movie
Raises a question for me. At what point to Vulcans learn the neck pinch?

I think it's a when we get around to it lesson, or it's innate knowledge, not sure which though.Mark wrote:Raises a question for me. At what point to Vulcans learn the neck pinch?

I'd imagine that's like asking "When does a human learn to throw a punch." The answer varies for each individual, and some might never learn the right way.Mark wrote:Raises a question for me. At what point to Vulcans learn the neck pinch?

Re: Rate The Movie
I think a better analogy would be "when does a human learn judo?" Throwing a punch is easy - any drunk can do it. Effectiveness, and doing more damage to the victim than the puncher's fist is another matter, but the basics are simple, and even a badly-thrown punch will do damage if it connects.
With a nerve pinch, on the other hand, unless it's got right, what sort of damage will it do? It'll hurt, but it won't drop the victim the way a properly executed one does.

Eh, either way...the point is you probably can't say for certain when, or even if, they will learn.
Re: Rate The Movie
I just got the 2-disc DVD! I'll be checking it out this weekend when I've finished my research paper.
