Oh Jesus. Please. Nobody I know actually speaks like that, it's all put on. Somebody give that young man a slap (the guy in the video, not you Kieran :))
You've clearly never been to Portsmouth.

People in Hampshire put on fake Essex/Cockney accents? I'll loan you my air rifle...

Sounds Jamaican.
I bet I can make you sound Jamaican, Nutso.

Say the words 'beer can'. You sound like a Jamaican saying 'bacon' :)

No, people in portsmouth specifically.

Hampshire is a lot different.

If I were from Portsmouth, I'd be very grateful that my natural accent sounded nothing like Estuary English, let alone trying to sound like it!!!

Here is a very mild version of what I remember, though the announcer seems to taking pains to make himself understandable. IIRC, this is a lot less inflected than some of the old die-hards.

They should have included a Hawaiian with a strong pidgeon accent on Enterprise. THAT would have made things interesting and challanging to understand.

Captain Archer: "Mr. Kimo, we need warp speed and we need it five minutes ago!"

Lt. Kimo: "Ho Cap, pump da brakes huh? She go when she go. Jus' slow da roll."

 Yeah, in my limited experience giving a Hawai'ian a deadline is an excercise in futility.

Well, I guess that does explain my love of coconuts and grass skirts.
