When Nero's ship gets to the black hole Spock comes out of he says something along the lines of "now we'll do what we've been doing for the last 25 years. We'll wait."

There's also dates given in the film, by the way. The stardates are in the formal of the year followed by two digits. The Kelvin's captain says it is 223304. Spock's ship says it is from 2387. Spock says he came back 129 years. Do the math! :)

Actually, it DOES look pretty huge there.

But I have no other references, I have no idea what the oEnterprise would have looked like under constrution.

Right, there's that. I was just wondering if they had two of those sequences, but I guess not.

I've only seen it once ok?

Thanks

He was described as a Russian wizz-kid, a kinda of likable version of Weasly Crusher.

True. But it's more the idea of Starfleet admitting someone of only 13 years of age, regardless of how smart he is.

SF probably has a Soldier Apprentice Analogue, where you join at a young age and get a trade in exchange for x amount of years service.

Hm. Didn't realise there was such a thing in real life.

There isn't anymore but it was very popular in the 70's.

There was a 13 year old girl admitted to Oxford University a few years back so such things happen from time to time.

Yeah, but Oxford isn't a part time military.

That's old thinking. NEWStarfleet has never been seen to fight a war. :)

Perhaps he did the equivilant of ROTC in High School (Reserve Officer Training Corp.. to be more accurate, in High School it would be JROTC for Junior Officer etc. etc.) and since he is apparently a prodigy of some type, they just fast tracked him?

Or education is just REALLY advanced in the 23rd century
They say that in the Army,
the women are mighty fine.
They look like Phyllis Diller,
and walk like Frankenstein.
