Anti personnel missile variant.

Re: Ground Forces Equipment
Missiles are best used against enemy armor. Smaller rapid fire weapons are best for close support against enemy troops.

Re: Ground Forces Equipment
The missiles are submunition dispensers which can blanket a largish area from a long way away. Sort of an MLRS role.

I suspect this is actually a MRLS analogue.Deepcrush wrote:Missiles are best used against enemy armor. Smaller rapid fire weapons are best for close support against enemy troops.

Re: Ground Forces Equipment
So this isn't a troop carrier, its MRLs using the hold to carry extra missiles?
What kind of weight can that thing carry? Warheads aren't light.

Re: Ground Forces Equipment
The only real weight limit is how much the ground can support when it's in wheel mode. The structure and agravs could support a shedload of weight.

Re: Ground Forces Equipment
How strong are those little legs and how much do those missiles and craft weigh?

Haven't decided on weights yet.

Re: Ground Forces Equipment
One thing I've got concerns about regarding the base design is that the wheels look very narrow - only 20cm wide at a rough glance. The Stryker's wheels are half as wide again, giving it much lower ground pressure
Also, as a nitpick, that last image (the mortar) seems to depict a normal self-propelled gun. Mortars are specifically high-angle weapons, with a firing angle restricted to 45-90 degrees (at least by design), whereas that last piece appears to be capable of firing at 0 degrees.

Re: Ground Forces Equipment
There are a bunch of turret mounted mortar systems avaiilable now that are similar to this. Offering the vehicle the option of acting as a mortar, FSV or in a pinch an anti-tank vehicle. This one looks like the AMOS turret.Captain Seafort wrote:One thing I've got concerns about regarding the base design is that the wheels look very narrow - only 20cm wide at a rough glance. Edit: This is the one. Not quite identical but you get the idea.

Re: Ground Forces Equipment
AMOS was one of the inspirations for this variant. The turret is designed so that the barrels could be elevated to 90 degrees if necessary - though that would be a bit counterproductive, obviously! But having them permanently at 45 degrees would significantly increase the height of the vehicle anyway, which would be unwanted. You can see AMOS in action here, and as you can see it does do low angle firing too (see 2:08).
Re the wheels, yes they are a bit narrow aren't they? I may thicken them.
