The relays were a stupid idea. Like "stealth technology" and phase pistols, it was one of the numerous continuity errors plaguing the prequel.

I agree with katefan 100%. I believe that many of Archer's errors can be attributed to the fact that he had no precedents of any kind. Being (as he should of been) on his own, with comms taking days or weeks, would have reinforced this.

I always felt that Kirk should have been decended from the likes of Archer and his command style, I mean, after all Kirk tamed his wilderness with a phaser in one hand, a woman in the other, and wearing a torn shirt. Archer had alot more wilderness to tame, and all the ever did was get his a$$ kicked.

Yeah, Archer was a tremendous candyass and general waste of air.

Well, the whole comm was already explained away as the Enterprise dropped subspace amplifiers relays along its journey at regular intervals.

So, why didn't Kirk and HIS Enterprise do the same thing I wonder? B&B stike again. That tech shouldn't have been available yet.
