IDK... if there was a definite difference between cloaks and ECM, one would think we'd have seen more of the latter save the "technobabble of the week" solutions shich were applied only haphazardly.

In the end, whatever the Breen had. It wasn't good enough. Nothing says welcome to the war like losing a whole fleet...

Yeah, it'd be like if the IJN had lost their entire carrier force when attacking Pearl Harbour.

Sure they did. They won WWII.

For us.

I meant for Rochey's example the IJN would have had to have lost the whole fleet and accomplished nothing.

Ah, okay. The way it was worded, I could read it both ways.

Both ways huh? I had my suspicions.

Now that I think of it, it would be more like the entire IJN task force getting intercepted and destroyed before they were able to launch more than a dozen or so aircraft towards the harbour. Sure, they could do some minor damage, but they'd have lost far more than they gained.

That would have cost the IJN a full third of its carriers. That loss would have taken years to replace.

Indeed, thus my point. The Breen lost an entire fleet for damn all gains.

How would the DW have gone if the RSE hadn't signed the NAP but instead started the war on the side of the allies?

We dont know how big the fleet they lost was.

It could have been worth it, it was great propaganda, bad moral for the Alliance and impressed the hell out of the Dominion which brought the Breen serious respect.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

I don't see a heck of a lot of difference. Even without an official NAP, I could easily see the Romulans waiting in the wings to see exactly with whom to throw in their lot.
