F*ck 2010.
Sorry Tsuki...its been a fucked up few days. One of my students in my Relapse Prevention class left the program, went out, got high, and got killed by a hit and run driver. He went out the day after I cancelled my class after I got my back shots, and for some reason, I keep wondering if I hadn't cancelled the damned class if he may not have stayed.

Sh*t.

I can't wait for the end of this damn year.

Yesterday seemed pretty damn shit for me. Admittedly not that bad, but one of my good friends was stabbed by a load of hoodlums who attacked him and a load of other friends. Only minor wound, but left him pretty damn shaken up. Of course, police did nout since they couldn't find any evidence and the bastards had run.

2010 just got a whole lot worse.

If he couldn't keep himself there for one day on his own then there's nothing that you could have done. Sooner or later you have to take a day off and remember that you can't save everyone.

Deep's right, Mark - I understand why you feel like that, but isn't taking personal responsibility an important part of recovery?

Yeah, I've honestly felt the same way though, it's a pretty crappy feeling, however you do have to realize that you can't possibly fix and save everyone no matter how much you try.

I keep telling myself that, and I know your right, but its still tough to swallow.

It is, but at the same time the guy came in for help, and I just feel like he didn't get enough.

Well, your feelings show you have a conscience there, Mark. And yeah, he's right-not your fault.

An update. The poor guy ended up in the news paper, but the reporter failed to mention that he walked out of the program, got loaded, then got killed. They have him listed as coming to Oahu to get help and killed while trying to get off drugs.

It's much nicer than the truth....but it just ain't so. At least I have no moral ambiguaties about setting the record straight as I'm leagally prohibited my the Federal Confidentiality Act. Let the family and folk in the community draw a little comfort where they can.

Sometimes its best just to let things lay out. If no one can be helped by whats going to be said then there's really no reason to throw it out there.

Yeah, sometimes as much as we would like to believe it, the truth isn't the best for everyone.

Yeah....its not exactly the first time I've kept things quiet, and if his family doesn't know what happened already, they really don't need too. Plus, its not like I have much choice....if I open my mouth, at BEST I'd face a fine, and at WORST Federal prosecution :P
