I have no problem with not knowing something. In fact i enjoy not knowing. Because then i CAN learn about it. I enjoy knowledge and learning. after this discussion, i spent about an hour learning the military side of it and another 30 minutes learning the capabilites of various ships in the british fleet.

Whatever happened to "ignorance is bliss"?

That statement reffers to the knowledge that something bad is going to happen that you can't do anything about. For example, there's nothing you can do about a comet hitting Earth, so not knowing about it would be for the better.

Wilful ignorance on other matters, on the other hand, is not bliss. It's stupidity.

I like speculating about what would happen if they tried again. If it happened right now I doubt we would be able to retake the islands. Once we get these two new carriers it would be a whole different ballgame, though.

I suppose, but it still might give the government the impression they have the Cojones to get off their asses and do something, even if the older frigates and destroyers actually do the main stuff.

Should have just bought some DDG-51's off the Yanks. I really like the attitude towards the Daring class though: fitted for but not with CIWS. Guess the lessons of the Falklands didn't sink in as well as we thought...
