Well, technically Endgame was Janeway's brilliance. She just hasn't done it yetCaptain Picard's Hair wrote:There was a bit of "Deus ex machina" going on in getting Voyager home in a tenth the time it was meant to take (and not just in "Endgame") so it's not entirely a testament to Janeway's brilliance.

Re: What If: Voyager
We all knew Voyager would get home in 7 years. It was decided the second the series was set.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Well, a 70-year run would blow the doors off the records for fictional series. (and it'd have to be a pretty damn good show if it could pull it off)Blackstar the Chakat wrote:You didn't think it would last 70 years do you?Captain Picard's Hair wrote:Which means we were destined to get deus ex machina from the startTeaos wrote:We all knew Voyager would get home in 7 years. They wouldnt leave it open ended unless they planned on doing movies. Although having them blow up an fail would have been an interesting take on it.

That would've been rather unexpected, for sure.
