Re: 5th Edition Rule Book for 40k!
No, orks did have the choppa rule removed I believe.
New wounding rules built to spread out hits across a squad. You no longer get to pick which guys take the hits.
New vehicle damage rules which make them far more useful in game and less simple to take out.
'Line of Sight' now based on true line of sight. If your squad can't see them you can't shoot them, same goes for the other guy.
New cover save roles.
Thats all I got for now, haven't finished reading the new rule book and haven't picked up the new Ork codex.

I might drop into town over the week and pick it up. I've been meaning to pick up some books from there.

The fluff is cool, the constant rewriting of the rules to sell Codex's...not so cool.Reliant121 wrote:

That identifies it as GW more than any trademark could.Cpl Kendall wrote:The fluff is cool, the constant rewriting of the rules to sell Codex's...not so cool.Reliant121 wrote:

You know, if they would just update their business model to 2008 they'd be fine. Let people use their images freely, allow fanfilms/fiction, get on the net and promote the hell out of the universe, stop selling (almost) excusively in their crappy little shops, drop the prices.Mikey wrote:

But hey if they did that they wouldn't have gone from 15million$ in profit to 5 in the last five years.

Indeed. Games Workshop: screwing over their customers since X AD.

It just doesn't make business sense to me. I mean, yes, you have to hold on to your trademarks - that's why Johnson and Johnson owns, well, everything. But they have such a marketable product - not just the games, but the fic, the background info, everything. I couldn't even quantify how many more devotees they would get if they didn't sue to prevent fan films from being released, or made their products more accessible.

I seem to recall that Blizzard created Starcraft after GW refused to license WH40K to them. So we got WH40K light.Mikey wrote:It just doesn't make business sense to me. Exactly - GW would have picked up both the licensing fees and lord-knows how many new customers via a release like that.

Yeah, considering how popular that game was, they could have made a fortune and gotten a tonne of marketing from it.
