Probably, unless the main hull part has backup thrusters it can use.

Re: Type 21 Battleship
The drivefield doesn't sit directly over the hull; like I said, it's an ellipsoid shape. Take a look at the Swiftsure class I posted, it will give you an idea of what I mean.Teaos wrote:Well the guns point out. Wouldnt it make sense to put them in a shell that can fold down. Or a dome like those round telescope buildings.

Re: Type 21 Battleship
Well now I think about it, as well as the main power systems both the FTL and sublight drive engines are all in the rear hull... so if the ship was cut in half...Mikey wrote:It would immobilize it though, wouldn't it?
Of course in this type of midspace drive you have to have a hull in each field lobe, so FTL would be out. But it's conceivable that the rear section could fly on the sublight engines. Assuming the level of battle damage wasn't too catastrophic, of course; having your entire ship blasted in half is no small thing.

I mean, disregarding the material damage, explosive decompression, and all those minor details.

Re: Type 21 Battleship
Redesigned the back end; reworked the sublight engine radiator positions because of that. Added some hull details.

Re: Type 21 Battleship
Nice. Fits the field, but still has the angular, stronger, and more dangerous-looking outline I like.

With all these original ships, Graham, you should create an original Sci FI story...

We've been begging him for the novel which has this universe as the backstory.SuperSaiyaMan12 wrote:With all these original ships, Graham, you should create an original Sci FI story...
