StarTrek.com link in case of region block.
In Season 5, Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery uncover a mystery that sends them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. But there are others on the hunt as well … dangerous foes who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves and will stop at nothing to get it.

Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Cleveland “Book” Booker (David Ajala) come face to face with a dangerous creature that unexpectedly possesses the ability to cloak. While attempting to get past it, they realize it’s not alone.

I don't even remember. I don't want to go back and re-watch to remember.

For his part in trying to steal the power supply from the aliens he was ment to be sent to help people affected by the mining device that destroyed his planet. It seems that he is back without doing this, unless this season is set much later on...

I suspect that with being the final season, they were forced to bring him back so that the captain has her love intrest to close out the show's run.

Or...to set them up for one of them to be killed off to propel the drama.

Or...continuity be damned, we are going out our way, not dictated by the suits at P+.

Wonder what galaxy threatening season long arc they will have that Michael will have to headline to fix.

Episodes 1+2: Same ol Discovery, featuring the awful acting of the heroic Capt. again and again...feels super rushed, as if they are trying to cram an old fashioned 24 episode season into the final 10 that they have been alloted..oh well, in for a penny, in for a pound..8 pounds left!

I've only seen episode 1 so far. When Michael and Booker were bickering during the chase, after their previous bickering, I finally yelled at the TV, "SHUT UP!" I never yell at the TV. The episode was fine. Sets up the mystery at the end, something I was interested in after first seeing the related TNG episode. But I don't feel like I am in the mood to enjoy Discovery yet. It's not fair to watch the show when I already have a negative opinion of it and am in a bad mood.

So I am back-in this and all caught up. What do y'all think of the Breen reveal? Or the mystery of the Progenitors?

Did anyone catch why the Breen looks like jelly and Lak doesn't? Though their general appearance isn't what I though they would look like, but I can't really think of what I think they should look like. Kinda generic though.

I cannot stand Moll.

I don’t remember where in the process we landed on “gelatinous” but when we hit the art team with that they came back to us with deep sea fish like the Barreleye Fish with a see-through head. We got really excited about that. So we started talking about what is this species? Why do they wear the suits? So, the thing we landed on is they have this soft gelatinous form and also a hardened form. Our thinking was that the Breen came up on a very harsh planet with a harsh environment. So they developed a way to protect themselves which was hardening their outer shell into basically a skin, but that takes an immense amount of concentration and energy, making them slower, more sluggish, less intelligent, basically. Over time, they compensated for that by creating the refrigeration suits. Then culturally, it became anathema for them to display that solid face, especially to outsiders, because it was essentially a sign of weakness.

OK. Then why wasn't this explained. It would be a ten second at best statement. Also apparently the hard form isn't that much durable then a human.
