The Orville Season 3 First Look Image: New Cast Members on the Bridge
Image
The image from TVLine shows part of its cast on the bridge of the Orville. Along with MacFarlane, old regulars played by Adrianne Palicki, Scott Grimes, and Victor Garber can be seen, as well as new cast members played by Anne Winters, Lisa Banes, and Bruce Boxleitner in heavy prosthetics. Boxleitner previously was the lead of the long-running sci-fi series Babylon 5, another influence on The Orville's narrative.

That looks good. They seem to have upgraded the CGI and the ship has far more detail now. I guessed that the first part was a dream or holodeck thing. Looking forward to it.

Yeah. Disney owns Fox Entertainment now, so they've got Disney money behind them, plus Disney's desire to own the streaming market. Hopefully more sci-fi shows to come with that sweet, sweet Disney money.

The Guy to the left of the captain looks like Alan Rickmans character from galaxy Quest.

Really... It was so good to finally have some real Star Trek on screen doing season 1 and 2.

Enjoyed season 1, but season 2 just put me off with odd humour and story construction.

I will be interested to hear if Seth continues with the heavy use of his particular brand of 'school boy' humour, or if he will evolve.

Show has potential, to be sure. Could it be better realized with different leadership? or not having the 'star' do it all (act, produce, write, direct)?

That's weird. Fans of the show from what I have seen have it the other way around.

Especially that two parter with the robot people. That was one hell of a two parter.

That's OK. Not everyone enjoys Seth's style of comedy. And the stories are not exactly groundbreaking in any kind of way.

From some articles I have read there is a theory that shoe's comedy may be subdued due to being funded by the House of Mouse.

i wonder if they will lean more into real sci fi, or more into comedy.

As many trek fans really like this show as quasi trek, I feel they could lean that way if they do it well.

I was really quite impressed with Season 3. The comedy element was there but the raw sci-fi element was very well done? CGI was very much upgraded.
