Baseball great and unheralded philanthropist Rusty Staub passed today three days shy of his 74th birthday. Staub finished his career with 2716 hits including 500+ with 4 different teams, and as one of four players ever with home runs both before his 19th birthday and after his 40th; but perhaps his most impressive number was $112 million raised since 9/11/01 for widows and orphans of first responders.
