Mobile Site WebApp

Post by IanKennedy »

Today we've made a change to the mobile site to allow it to operate as a WebApp on iPhone and other compatible devices. What does that mean, well follow these few simple steps and try it for yourself:

- Open the site in your mobile browser (http://www.ditl.org/)
- Now click the sharing link in the lower bar
- Select 'Add to Home Screen' from the panel that appears
- Click the 'Add' button to complete the process.

Now you can open the site simply by clicking the DITL logo, and when it opens it will show full screen without the URL bar at the top or the navigation bar at the bottom. It should also seem slightly faster than normal. Navigation works using the blue and orange buttons in the header of each page, and the full screen menus as before.

Don't forget you can alway use the mobile site within the web browser as you have always done.

Maybe I'm inept with my device (iPad mini) but I can't figure this out...

I hate mobile apps or their mobile friendly sites. But that just me.

- Open the site in Safari
- Click the sharing / add bookmark link
- Choose the add to Home Page option.
- Close the site in Safari and return to the Home Page.
- Open the site by tapping the DITL logo that should be there now.

Should work as described. Oh, yes. You do need to switch to the mobile version before you do this.

And that would be my issue, I was using the standard version...

Thanks Ian.
