SFDebris: Defiant
Blip
Good episode, and while the plot is fairly simple, I agree with Chuck's assessment of it as a character piece. It's episodes like this that make Dukat such a great character - it's not simply a matter of making him a "multidimensional character", or similar script writer technobabble, it's about depicting him as a person.

It's also the first episode where we see the Defiant wanked out so much.
I personally love the episode. Still have no clue what Riker meant to O'Brian.

I love this episode and the idea of the Defiant. I just wish they had made the ship itself a bit more beefy... kinda weird seeing that tiny thing talked of as this badass warship.

I think Riker was just doing that to throw him off-balance so he didn't start up a conversation and trip him up.McAvoy wrote:It's also the first episode where we see the Defiant wanked out so much.

Funny, this is one of the few times where Starfleet security gets snookered and you could actually cut them some slack on it.

True, but Kira still deserved a bollocking for unlocking the tactical console.Tyyr wrote:Funny, this is one of the few times where Starfleet security gets snookered and you could actually cut them some slack on it.

I'm trying to thik if Thomas showed up in any novels past this but I'm drawing a bit of a blank.
Re: SFDebris: Defiant
IIRC he was in Peter David's sequel to Imzadi.RK_Striker_JK_5 wrote:I'm trying to thik if Thomas showed up in any novels past this but I'm drawing a bit of a blank.
Go and read my fan fic "The Hansen Diaries"! And leave comments!
Re: SFDebris: Defiant
Yeah they should have done an episode of rescuing Riker from the Cardies in the later seasons. Subsitute one of the Ferengi episodes perhaps.

Definitely.
One of the few disappointments I have about DS9.
