To celebrate the series' 20th anniversary, Entertainment Weekly chose its "Top 10 Episodes":
1.) "Yesterday's Enterprise"
2.) "The Best of Both Worlds", Parts I and II
3.) "The Inner Light"
4.) "Tapestry"
5.) "All Good Things..."
6.) "The Measure of a Man"
7.) "Sins of the Father"
8.) "First Contact"
9.) "The First Duty"
10) "Chain of Command", Parts I and II.

Top ten of TNG
So I came across this from Entertainment Weekly. Their picks and positions of the top ten episodes of TNG. While I mostly agree with this, I'm surprised to see "Measure of a Man" at only six. Personally that always stood out as the best I had ever seen in TNG. It was a low budget of set to the season that ended up making a huge impact on the series. Also, I just didn't care for "The First Duty". It wasn't so much Star Trek as it was boarding school. I would replace it with "Deja Q" or "Sarek" as both easily out pace a couple of dishonest children. I guess since there are more then just ten good eps in TNG, unlike Voy, its hard to tell really. If the point is to show TNG at its best then "The First Duty" has to go and be replaced with something on the level of "Sarek" or "Reunion".

Yes, that's a pretty accurate list IMHO. While I agree about maybe putting "Reunion" or "Redemption" in there instead of "The First Duty," it's a pretty close judgement call.

Yeah, to me The First Duty was just a very special (tm) episode of TNG.

"On the next very special TNG, Wesley learns an important lesson about peer pressure. With special guest star Uncle Martin!"
*EDIT* super-cookie for the "Unce Martin" reference.

Never heard of Uncle Martin, but are you on about Ed Lauter - the dead cadets bald father? He's one of those actors who pops up all over the place.

No, but thanks for supplying his name. I've seen him in tons of things, but never knew his name. If I have to give a hint, I'm talking about the actor behind Boothby.kostmayer wrote:Never heard of Uncle Martin, but are you on about Ed Lauter - the dead cadets bald father? Yes, Ray Walston - who in the '60's played Uncle Martin opposite Bill Bixby in My Favorite Martian.

Re: Top ten of TNG
I'm kinda in the mood to see if we can put together our own top twenty TNG eps for DITL. Anyone interested?

Why not, however getting us all to agree would be akin to herding cats
Ok Deep, start up a thread to get people to nominate their fav episodes, usual format, nominated, seconded etc and added to a poll to pick the best of the best. Then we can start a major fight
