For those who vote in Caption Comp

Post by stitch626 »

Does anyone else feel they are biased for or against forum members?

I just feel odd everytime I vote for a caption of someone on here...

I certainly don't. Non members, or even non-posting members who most of don't know win as much or even more than regular members.

You have to be quite keen on being biased. You cannot see who it is you are voting for while you are voting. I could hide the owner of the captions even while the entries are still coming in if it would help?

Hmmm, well, maybe I'm just a bit too self conscious.

I think it would be interesting to see the total results of the voting one week. Total votes for all entries. How many votes do the winner and the special mentions get...

Anyone else?

I know the answers to all of those questions and I'm not sure we'll ever make them public.

Hi,

After years of trying and only getting a few honorable mentions, I finally won last week's contest (2 weeks ago in this case, as Data's Head went 'over'). For a 51 year-old man to be elated over something like this says maybe there is still more ST fan left inside me than I realized.

Since this is my first post in this forum, obviously I am not a regular member. This shows, for this particular week anyway, there wasn't any bias.

As for my own weekly voting, since I don't know who the regular forum members are (I could probably guess by reading who submits captions on a regular and consistent basis, though), my voting is based on what makes me laugh the most and not by the name (if I happen to recall a regular winner's name). Even some of my own submissions sound dumb after a week and I don't vote for them.
