You have to remember that nBSG never thought they'd get very far. So from the start they were running towards the end.

Which leads to better writing.
No trees were killed in transmission of this message. However, some electrons were mildly inconvenienced.

Voyager should have resembled the Galactica by the end. In utter terrible shape, running with barely a skeleton crew, no spare parts, lack of supplies and with the ship threatening to fall apart every time they went to warp. No shuttles, sickbay filled with people just barely hanging on to life, numerous officers still working despite major injuries, etc.
Oh, and a mutiny episode similar to The Oath would have been nice. Hell, they had everything they needed for a major ship-wide civil war right there. Instead, we got Learning Curve.

But that wouldn't have resembled TNG, how can you do a non-TNG Trek show?

They only really carried over Neliexs missing lung.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Even that got mixed up in the story-telling episode, I believe it was the haunting of deck twelve.
