SW Fleet RP Alpha

Post by Reliant121 »

The deep and laboured breath of pirate lord Kuntash sounded across the quiet command centre of his ship. The aging Dreadnaught that he'd managed to "acquire" from a nameless backwater salvage yard groaned along with him, defiantly struggling against the stresses of Lightspeed. Kuntash often got the impression that the Opal Voyage (a name which had been suggested by his wife, who would be considered the brains behind...well everything) was trying to fly itself apart. It was indeed somewhat surprising that they had manged to get the old girl running.

Assembled around them were around 5 other ships above 150 metres in length, A trio of Corellian corvettes and a pair of Brand new Marauder class corvettes, along with 30 various fighters and bombers. Their target: Athos Beta Mining facility, in a distant backwater system that almost no-one had ever heard of. It had plenty of large docks and minimal defences, making it a perfect location for a new base of the slowly growing pirate empire Kuntash and his wife had begun to build.

"Dropping out of Lightspeed, Couch," the helmsmen said. Kuntash didn't much like being called an item of furniture as a nickname, but he really couldn't fault Mogja's piloting skills. Therefore he tolerated the insolence of the Rodian. It was rare that a Rodian was capable of speaking basic, so he had encountered anywaym but Mogja could quite well.

"Bring everything online, Get ready for combat. I want all the frigates to tighten formation, while the fighters make attack passes and distract the defensive turrets," Kuntash ordered, wheezing. A close call had rendered him somewhat short of breath, and made him sound rasping like a long term smoker.

The 5 ships and their support wings slipped out of hyperspace, the small corvettes contrasting the bulky, heavy and aging Dreadnaught. Before them lay the asteroid field and the base within. It wasn't a particularly dense asteroid field meaning they could navigate freely within reason. Still, they would have to find the base first. It didn't take long, as the base had been constructed on a very large asteroid by the standards of the field.

"Get me a commlink." A metallic bleeping signified the link was open.

"Athos Beta, this is the Opal Voyage, prepare to cease all operations. You are ordered to surrender your station to the Dawnstar pirate consortium. Comply, or we will make you....Cut it." Once more the line went dead.

Suddenly, the few turrets that were on the base opened fire, spraying out yellow bolts toward the group of ships. The fighters broke off immediately and began their attack runs, while the capital warships began bombarding the shields with turbolaser fire.

"Sir, they are sending a distress signal...its too late, its already gone," some nameless techie said.

"Shit. Well. Get this over with quick so we can fortify."

And the battle continued.

Reinhardt was just settling in at his cabin table for a late dinner, refuelling operations had gone slowly that afternoon, some hick had decided he didn't want his sister taken from taken from the family freighter and had tried to ram the Acadia. Fortunately he had only managed to wing a single fuelling boom before the fighter patrol brought him down. Still, that was time and credits lost and the Commander was fast losing patience. They had picked most of the area clean and could use a decent money maker besides what the latest haul of cargo and slaves would bring at the local smuggling post.

The shrill beep of the door buzzer brought him out of his musings. "Enter!"

The door shot into the floor and he was greeted by the sight of one of his junior comms techs, message in hand. "We picked this up a few minutes ago sir", the tech informed him.

Reinhardt gave the flimsy a quick read.

Reinhardt thought for a moment, this had the potential to put a good few extra credits in their pocket. Maybe enough to get an extra ship for the Squadron. He reached out and selected an intercom channel from his table side control panel. "Conn, this is CO. What's our best speed to AA-423?"

There was a pause, then the reply. "CO, Conn. 4 hours, 16 minutes."

Nodding to himself, the Commander flicked the switch again. "Conn, CO. Get us to lightspeed ASAP."

"Aye-Aye"

A few minutes later as Reinhardt dug into his salad, the Squadron disappeared into hyperspace with a flash.

Mal disembarked his shuttle in the bay of the Abednego, completely unsurprised to see the ever-present form of S'lls'tak waiting for him. Ever since the Trandoshan had been set up on a slaving mission to Kashyyk, and Mal had bailed him out of both physical and legal trouble, S'lls'tak had considered Mal to be his ghrakhowsk - the recipient of a life-debt. There was something to be said for having a Trandoshan willing to give his life to protect you from harm, Mal reflected... but S'lls'tak definitely had a tendency to hover over Mal. A small point, but one which Mal's slightly obssesive personality tended to magnify at times. "What news?" grumbled S'lls'tak, in a voice that sounded like a belch with syllables.

"Nothing good," Mal sighed. Since ending their term with Dooku and splitting from Sabaoth, Tzavah Squadron had found work enough - but nothing like the long-term retainer Mal so desperately wanted. In fact, he had just returned from a meeting with a possible client who was unwilling to offer a long-term contract, and was willing to pay little enough in the short term that Mal was back aboard rather quickly. "What's going on here?"

"I believe Lepardu has news on an inbound comm," S'lls'tak replied. Mal thought he detected a particular note of distate when S'lls'tak mentioned the Rodian's name. Mal sighed. Gisko Lepardu was a great asset to his crew; he was a fierce fighter, a good tactical leader - especially in the urban and boarding tactics which were so important to their business, a nice go-between with contacts in Rodian manufacturing, and an ambassador to the non-Basic speaking Rodians in the Squadron. In fact, when Lepardu's clan began suffering persecution and Rossak welcomed him, Lepardu quite quickly had recruited a good few very capable Rodian engineers, pilots, and warriors. The price was Lepardu's attitude - he had a way of seeming to second-guess every decision without actually saying anything. That lisp and Nemoidian-sounding accent when he spoke Basic didn't help, either, nor did his insistence on wearing his Stalker armor and all of its somewhat unsafe accoutrements. Rubbing his temples, Mal headed to the bridge.

"Wewcome back, Captain," Gisko said as Rossak took his seat on the bridge. "I should tell you, we have intercepted a distwess call from a nearby mining faciwity - incwuding an offer of payment for assistance against piwate waiders. I pwesume we don't have a new contwact to fill?" That was the exact type of sarcasm that Mal didn't need to hear.

"Details?" he asked tersely.

A comm officer spoke up. "Shadows from the origination point of the distress call indicate five ships of frigate size, one larger capital ship. No confirmation yet, but two of the frigates appear to fit the profile of those new corvettes..."

Mal perked up. "Marauders?" he asked excitedly. "Man, I'd like to take one of those..."

Seeing the glint in Captain Rossak's eyes, Lepardu rolled his protuberant black eyes and S'lls'tak gave Mal a pleading look. "Mal, maybe we should get more details..." the Trandoshan rumbled.

"Let's see..." Mal answered, "job; proximity; chance to grab one of those shiny new ships I want. What other details do I need, exactly? Gisko! Get the fighters ready, and prep the boarding ships and parties. Set a course to intercept the distress call, and let's get moving!"

Kamino, Tipoca City, Sector AF1127/9
Research and Development sector:

Automatic fire blazed over Telos' head. The cries of Mandolorian warriors and artilery left his ear drum raw and, in the case of his left, bloody. An unfamiliar T-visor suddenly blazed into existence above the foxhole the Commander had taken shelter in. Lekku protruded from the Mando's beskar helmet.
Twi'lek, huh? So be it. The Commander thought to himself. The Twi'lek Mandolorian brought his weapon to bear, but Telos was far to fast for him. His inherent Miriluk ability of Force Vision allowed him to see what the warrior was going to do before it happened, but his commando training told him even before then.

Before the gloved finger of the Mandolorian made it in to the trigger gaurd, Telos was in full swing. One hand tore the custom WESTAR-M5 blaser rifle from his grip, the other brought the ejectable vibro blade built into his gauntlet up and into the the Twi'lek's neck. Thick blood gushed out in spurts as Telos dislodged his blade from the warrior's neck. The Mandolorian twitched for a few seconds before Telos put scorch mark into his forehead. With a slight flourish, Telos replaced his scoped DC-15S blaster into its thigh holster.

His visor cleared the blood to reveal a shimer in his vision. Even without his force sight he knew he was staring at someone coaked by a M-32 Personal Cloaking Feild (PCF). His finger twitched over his blasters. A disembodied voice suddenly filled his TeamCom. "Easy ner vod, you wouldn't want to shoot little ol' Grex, now, would you?"
Telos checked himself. He almost pulled a gun on his own sister, a mistake his wasn't about to make a second time. Preacher had barely been able to patch his artery up the last time. "Grex drop the cloak, and where the hell have you been?!"

Grexidus', or Grex for short, form shimmered into existence. Her slim feminine form looked extremely deadly locked in her cortosis battle armor. The shining silver gave way to her form fitting black underlay. Due to the nature of her particular role in the squad makeup, the areas around her points of articulation was protected by only the matte black body suit that all clones wear. The only thing that marked her as a Fett clone were the long black hair flowing out from the back of her custom made mask, and the Mandolorian hunting kama around her waist.

Grex twirled her tonfa style vibro blade. "Sorry to cut your simulation short vod, but we have word tht one of our mining facilities is under attack, and shes given us a green light to go after it."

Telos pulled off his helmet as the simulated battlefield around him faded from exsistence. The Twi'lek's blood faded from his armor leaving it a pristine white and red. He nodded to his sister. "Tell Nikko to prep the ships. I want us in hyperspace in less then ten minutes."
Maybe you shouldn't be poking that...

Saanto sat in the command chair of the Azure Horizon, with roughly twenty data sheets layed out on the retractable table in front of him. The custom, wood lined desk curved around in front with the data cluttered around him. On it, were stock markets and share prices, various inventories of his and rival companies, and the odd communique. The crew around him, many of whom were Neimodian or droid, busied themselves with the maintaining of the ship.

"hmm...Markets in Tabana Gas mining on Bespin are beginning to rise. Prices still low...I'll make a bid in shares," Saanto spoke to himself in Neimodian, before sending a message to his agents.

"Incoming transmission, emergency channel," A lowly Neimodian officer reported. Saanto shuffled all the data sheets into a small alcove at the edge of the desk, and folded it away into the seat.

"Read it out."

"*flash traffic* *flash traffic* *flash traffic* Message begins- from: Athos Beta Mining, System AA-423. To: *general*. Status: Athos Beta Mining, System AA-423 is under attack. Several Capital Vessels, Numerous Starfighters. The bridge fell silent around them. The droids continued their work, seemingly unaware of the news.

"Comm, send message via the Bothawei relay, traffic to Coruscant for delivery to Apartment TX-4563, Financial district: Have been delayed -stop-. Ensuring safety of assets -stop-."

"Done, Sir."

Rising from his command chair, Saanto ambled aimlessly toward the windows of the command centre, looking out at Ryloth below them. For that moment, he dreamt of home. The elongated bridges suspended between rocky cliffs shrouded in mists, untouched by the senseless violence of the universe. Pure and clean, unlike most of the inhabitants. A homesick longing struck his heart for a second, before dissapearing into the ether of his mind.

"Plot a course for AA-423, along the edges of the Death Wind Corridor. Make the calculations for the jump to light speed." Around him, the bridge was set alight with voices as the Neimodian/Droid crew readied the MC30 for the jump. hundreds of console bleeps, artificial and machined, signalled the crew at work.

"Standing by for Jump."

"On my mark. 5..4..3..2..1.....Jump."

" I'm getting sick of looking at this sail-head, Hujaan..." Oan's bootheel had the Muun's head firmly pinned to the deck. The human passengers looked... nervous. He had a feeling one of them had a hold-out blaster on them somewhere, and the sail-head's lack of fear made Oan think this job had been a set up from the get-go.

The old Sullustan rounded on him, screeching in her native gibberish as she leaned back out of the maintenance space; Oan growled back, " I think this one is a trap..."

The vessel shook as a tractor beam locked on; Hujaan finally emerged from the crawlspace with the Ilum crystals the passengers had been smuggling. He gestured upward at the sound of the tractor beam, and she grunted, brushing past him as she headed for the airlock.

Oan lifted his boot from the Muun's head, slowly backing away from the passengers. They'd grouped together, seeking safety, it seemed. The various lords and ladies being hauled from whatever backwater planet this transport came from sure looked scared. Oan was sure one of them had a blaster concealed somewhere. In his mind, he saw gray fabric, but half of them were wearing gray...

"Don't move, please?" he raised an eyebrow at the wealthy crowd, gesturing with his chromed Westar blaster " And next time, either take a faster ship, or one that's better armed..."

He rushed after Hujaan, only sensing the movement behind him at the last second.

He spun, firing the Westar a single time. His shot was dead on; the assailant's shot wasn't as close, only glancing off of his armor-plated neck guard. The frumpy woman in gray collapsed with a hole in her neck, and Oan rubbed his armor absently.

" Don't waste my time. If the rest of you want to try it, just get on with it, okay?" The other passengers looked more panicked than anything, and Hujaan was shouting some nonsense at him from the airlock.

He yelled back as he leapt into the small escape pod they'd modified into a boarding module, "Okay, okay! I'm here! I still have no idea what you're yelling about, so you need to either learn to speak Basic, or-"

The transport shook as a turbolaser bolt impacted its shields, " Or, we can talk about this later... Release docking clamps, and fire us off in a direction that doesn't have us in their sights." Hujaan complied, and the modified pod blasted away from the blockade runner and it's captor at an astounding rate.

Overhead, the Dreadnought maintained its tractor lock on the corvette, but ignored the small pod spinning away toward the nearby asteroid field. Considering their situation, Oan wasn't surprised.

The Dreadnought's unshielded hull buckled under the combined fire of the two flanking gunships; the drive section shattered in a series of bright flashes. Oan smirked as the two ships, his new ships, leapt into hyperspace.

The small corvette they'd hijacked sped away at sublight speeds as the Banking Clan's Dreadnought yawed out of control into the asteroid field. Oan chuckled as the ship impacted one of the larger asteroids and exploded in a shower of sparking debris.

" One down." Hujaan chuckled in Basic. Oan laid his hand on her shoulder, grinning as the pod locked into place. He shoved the hatch open, marching down the stairs into the common area of Coral's yacht, the Better Off Dead. It was just as worn-out as he'd left it; Coral hadn't even replaced the panels he'd popped off to connect the new quad turbolaser mount to the central power grid. He stepped over power cables haphazardly crisscrossing the floor.

" Hold onto something, you regurgitated Bantha poodoo." Coral snarled over the intercom, as the yacht jumped into hyperspace. Oan laughed, sliding onto the wide couch in the salon, and dragged Hujaan along.

As soon as the ship was underway, Coral stormed down the steps from the cockpit, waving a disapproving finger at Oan, " You said there'd be no issues."

He stammered, shrugging his shoulders, "There weren't any issues. We got what we came for, and a Banking Clan ship ate an asteroid. Big deal."

She slammed her fist down on the table in front of him and returned his smirk, " We're clear, no thanks to you. We'll be back at the Zerro Tolerance," she paused to grimace at him over the name, " ...within the hour. We've already got a report of some new business."

She raised a shot of whatever rotgut she'd dredged up for this 'occasion', and performed a half-salute, half-insulting gesture at him, " To Oan Zerro. The man who never screws up..." The rest of her crew followed, and Oan downed the foul liquid himself as he turned to the readout and nodded. Fate was funny sometimes.

"Coral, as soon as we're in range, signal my flagship to make ready for the Athos system. I have something I'd like to see."

As usual, she raised a questioning eyebrow, but agreed. She rounded on her navigator, and began barking commands. Oan folded his arms behind his head, and meditated; when Coral got mad, things got done. That's the way things had always been, and Oan never questioned it. Results were results.
