Surely, although I imagine there is a limit to how many times the crystals get "recrystallized" or "recomposited" before being unable to be renewed anymore.
How, exactly, would introducing photons recrystallize the crystals?
You know what, never mind...

Quite useful that thing that we call light.

Undoubtedly. Law of diminishing returns and all that. But it would alleviate some of the pressure the Enterprise seemed to be under concerning dilithium back in TOS.Mikey wrote:Surely, although I imagine there is a limit to how many times the crystals get "recrystallized" or "recomposited" before being unable to be renewed anymore.

How many times do you see Kirk leading that?Rochey wrote:Given that TOS quite often jumps all over the place in terms of stardates, it's hard to say just how long the class had been in service as of that quote.
If we take each one as being the flagship of a specific fleet with, say, four or five hundred ships in each, it becomes reasonable enough.
Imo the TOS fleet is horribly under manned and unrealistic. How many times did we hear that the enterprise was the nearest ship to a certain problem? Its retarded. Almost as bad as in Generations when Enterprise B was the only one nearby and they were right by Sol!
How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.
