nBSG was great in its first couple of seasons. Then it started going down hill and degenerated into "Angst in space". Lately it's gotten a lot better.

I've only ever watched a few episodes of BSG, didnt really like it.
What does defeat mean to you?

Skip series 3 entirely, and go straight to series 4. It's still not as good as it originaly was, but it's good enough.

Not all of three - I've heard good things about the first couple of episodes, Exodus was awe-inspiring, and Crossroads was pretty good.
