True. Conscription is self-defeating (on the home front) for an offensive war.

I think it takes a defensive (at least initially) effort to engender that sort of across-the-board support.

Or if the majority of the populace believes the war is a good thing. Which would sort of tie in to how the government spins it.

But this wont happen. The people hate the gov, fewer and fewer people are supporting a needless war, even the armed forces are pushing to leave. There is no good spin for the US right now.
