Re: War of the Week: VII
Even a fleet a mere couple hundred strong inflict staggering losses against the Dominion fleet if it kept coming out like that before they were overwhelmed. If they mustered a fleet of thousands then I won't be betting on anything getting through that wormhole. Not even a Cube.

True. Even if they can go three battlecruisers abreast, that's still only three at a time vs. the combined firepower of a fleet.

Well one side or the other would have to gain control of both sides of the Wormhole real quick or neither well get anywhere. Once one side builds up the other won't be able to get through.

Re: War of the Week: VII
It actualy does. If we assume both sides can get to their side of the wormhole at equal speed, then it becomes a stalemate. Neither side can push through without crippling their fleet to the point where they couldn't conquer the rest of enemy space.

So the resolution is no resolution? I'd go with that, but it wasn't one of the options.

Re: War of the Week: VII
I know, but that's how it turns out. Neither side can push forward without destroying their own fleet in the process.
That's why I considered it a victory for the Allies: they get to defend their homeworlds while the Dominion fails to conquer them.

I agree, but I think this scenario is more meant to determine the outcome of an all-out conquering, rather than the scenario from DS9.

Re: War of the Week: VII
In that case there can be no victory for either side. Pushing through the wormhole would cripple the attacker so badly he'd be unable to continue the campaign.

A draw it is.

Agreed.
To more accurately reflect how we think this war'd go, Teaos, coud you edit in a "stalemate" option?

The reason I dont think they cant win with out a dues ex machina virus is because they cant.Deepcrush wrote:The biggest problem you have right now is you don't even bother to think that the Allies could win. Every time you talk you always say the "allies lose if they only hold the wormhole" but somehow you try to make it a win if the Dominion does it. So, you end up talking crap about nothing.Teaos wrote:But the alliance can never make in roads into Dominion space, which was part od the original senario, it was not about the Dominion trying to take over the AQ, it was about the Dominion and Alliance in an all out war, the alliance can never make in roads into the GQ thus they lose, the most they can hope to do is hold the wormhole, and if the Dominion take that which they have the power to do with heavy loses they win.
The Dominion almost beat them with only a tiny fraction of their total power, their fleet is larger over all, their ability to grow/build, ships/troops is far faster than the allies.
Every single thing is in the Dominions favour.
Name me one thing the alliance has superior to the Dominion.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.
