I just learned about this myself. I was hoping it was one of those death hoax articles, but I guess it's for real. Real shame.

Not sure if this is the best time to bring this up or not, but I'm wondering how they will deal with this in the next Trek movie.

I'm hoping they don't just recast the role like nothing happened.

Graham and I where discussing what would be done next. As I see it there's three options:

1) Disappear the character as if he never existed.
2) Promote him or kill him off screen and reference it in the next film.
3) Replace him.

To be honest I think the latter is the better choice. After all if Abramsverse has taught us anything it's that these roles can be successfully recast without the world ending. A few years ago I would have said differently but...
