Re: The Avengers 2012
The guy in the first ending is Thanos. His skin is pink and the mention of Death was the clincher. Thanos is literally in love with Death. I loved this movie from front to end. Some people have complained about parts where it drags a bit and I had no problem with them. Robert Downey Jr. may have ha...

Re: SFDebris: The Visitor
But by implication then if Sisko stayed dead then the war did not happen. If the war did not happen all those lives would not have been lost. This episode then suggests that Sisko is entirely responsible for the Dominion War and all those deaths are on his hands.

Re: SFDebris: The Visitor
Not a fan of this episode. I was not overly impressed with it when it aired, even less so as the series went on. So The Dominion never invaded the Alpha Quadrant, that is what the writers were implying in this new timeline. That seems highly unlikely. It just shows the writers had no long term plans...

Re: The Ranting Thread
Thank you. Play By E-Mail is essentially role playing through e-mails or message boards like this, either using a system like d20 or Fasa or what have you, or using no system at all. I started out years back doing table top games and I came across PBEMs by accident around '99 when I discovered someo...

Re: The Ranting Thread
I didn't know where to put this, so why not here? I write a blog about GMing, running role playing games. And over the past couple years I have grown increasingly despondent over the lack of creativity shown by many GMs in their choice of games. So I decided to address the issue in my latest post he...

I remember watching this show on local television in re-runs as a kid, and I recall Barnabas used to scare the hell out of me.

Re: Kira on Defiant
Huh. I had no idea non-Americans could enlist in the US Army. You learn something new every day. As for Kira and her status on Defiant, is it possible part of the arrangement with the Bajorans and DS9 extended to any support craft? Kira has used Federation runabouts so perhaps Sisko argued Defiant w...

Re: Kira on Defiant
I think when it comes to this argument that we have to keep something very important in mind. These are science fiction military organizations based only partly on real world counterparts, and thus trying to use real world analogies to make or break an argument is going to be problematic. There are ...

Re: SFDebris: The City on the Edge of Forever
An awesome episode, and an especially good one in that there was not a happy ending. Sure, everything got fixed, but at the cost of Edith Keeler's life. I think it was very gutsy television for the time.

Re: SFDebris: In A Mirror, Darkly (Part 1)
DS9 missed the entire point of the Mirror Universe, IMO. The Mirror Universe is meant to be a place where the good guys are evil. That's it, that's the whole reason for looking at it. DS9 Mirror Universe characters are basically the same people as they are in our universe. They're in a different si...

Re: SFDebris: In A Mirror, Darkly (Part 2)
I agree about the entertainment part. I don't think I was ever entertained by this show before or after this two parter. The writing was bad, the characters bland or unlikeable, and the Killer Bees never seemed to really grasp the concept of a prequel. I concede they were forced into running out ano...

Re: SFDebris: In A Mirror, Darkly (Part 1)
This two parter may have been the only Enterprise episodes that I truly liked. Granted, I stopped watching some time during season three (the Xindi were pure ass) and coming back during season four only supported my decision so there are gaps, but of what I did see 'Darkly was the most fun.

Re: SFDebris : Ensign Ro
I like how Chuck pointed out Worf's sash as not being Starfleet issue and it would have been amusing if Ro had brought that up at the end of the meeting within earshot of Riker to point out his pettiness. I think Forbes played a great character and I am sorry she did not reprise the role during DS9....

Re: SFDebris: Latent Image
Actually I think the Doctor's action in waking up Janeway fits in well with his character. Go back over the years and see what a jerk he could be. True, over the seasons he grew more likable but I think under the circumstances waking up the woman who considered him little better than a replicator is...

Re: John Carter of Mars
From what I have seen the movie looks like it is going to be visually stunning. My biggest concern is how the story is written. I am under the impression from what little I am seeing is they are going for a "Mars might invade Earth" type plot and I really wish they could just take some of ...
