Re: "What We Left Behind: Looking Back at Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" Official Documentary available on Youtube Movies

That documentary was great. Watching the writing team together build upon each other's ideas was both fun and instructive. Seeing how they crack a story and lay out the acts was fun to watch. It made me wonder what the writing room(s) was like during the height of the show with so many storylines go...

Re: Starship Lore : Nova Class - An Actual Science Vessel

It’s too bad the ship design didn’t have a more radical approach like the Oberth class it replaced. But it is in-line with the VOY-era design lineage.

The DMA—is it the Kelvans?

Major threat from outside the galaxy. The Kelvans would be a great tie-in, like how the episode “Unification P. III” was. Hopefully, if anything, they don’t gloss over who the threat actually is, the way they did with the artificial life forms in the wormhole at the end of Picard.

Re: Near deserted planets

Made me think of an 80s New Zealand movie called The Quiet Earth. It's about a man who's seemingly alone on the planet for a long time after a disease has wiped out mankind. Not an identical scenario, because he lives in and off the remnants of society, but the psychological effects must be rather ...

Re: Fix a TOS episode

"The Mark of Gideon," when Captain Kirk woos Odona, the cumshot was way over the top. Neutral on the budget and editing doesn't affect the plot.

Re: SF Debris: These Are The Voyages...

With as many faults as the episode has, in all fairness the speech is best left off-screen. I don't think they could've written something to fill the moment or meet the expectation--leaving it up to the imagination was a good choice.

Re: When Spock screamed "Khaaaaan!" what was your reaction?

I thought it was derivative, pandering, and I may have muttered, " oh for fuck's sake." Abrams is, at best, a second-rate storyteller, and that's being generous.

Just curious. How did Starbase Yorktown receive 2,000+ votes?

The recent poll about Starbase Yorktown, it got over 2,000 votes. I like your site and all that jazz but you've never had that many folks here voting. Is it akin to the Trump effect? Yorktown somehow speaks to something that's long simmering and then explodes and brings out Daystrom voters who haven...
