Re: The Motion Picture

I'd imagine they'd drop all the non-combatants off before rushing into a suicidal battle. Well, at least the Captain of Siskos ship didn't bother to drop the non-combatants off. Must have been a quite self-confident guy! :? :DITL: Good Lord, speaking of bothering: Is there nobody here feeling respo...

Re: The Motion Picture

That's the size of it. Every ship in range was recalled to deal with the threat, and I'd hope that there wouldn't be a captain in Starfleet who would say, "Maybe we shouldn't go try to help save Earth - we're only an Oberth-class, after all." Yeah, but I also hope the Oberth's captain wou...

Re: College/University Degrees

Well, I am working on my (utterly worthless) Bachelor of Education. Should have it next winter or spring. So, I am (technically) a teacher soon. But as it is unlikely for me to find a job within the next 10 years or so, I will have to look for something else... :(

Re: The type 2 phaser - what were they thinking?

Agreed. I liked the concept, but the implementation was absolutely absurd. Make it more realistic, and actually include human nature in it, then you got a true representation of a positive future. Well, we can't say what human nature is today and we certainly can't tell what it will be in 2363 and ...

Re: Funny moments in Trek

From that same episode, Picard waking up after his tryst with his classmate... and finding Q in bed with him. The episode as a whole is a big winner, according to me! It has humor ("Is there a John-Luck - Pickerd here?") and depth! And it brings the best out of Patrick Stewart and John De...

It would also be highly unpractical, if everybody would enter verbal commands only. I mean, besides the noice level it would create, the computer is confused enough!

Don't you think, that this was part of Star Trek's success? I mean that it was the one sci-fi series with an optimistic view about the future? I do! (I know : :poke: )

Re: The Redshirts

I wonder WHY they switched department colors. Why switch Operations from red to gold, and Command from gold to red. Never could understand the motivation behind that. I'd imagine it confused alot of people for a while. I don't think so. I mean, they had an awful lot of uniform designs and colors in...

Re: What would you fix on the E-D?

One thing that puzzeled me. Remember the episose where Picard and compnay are returning in the Runabout, and find Enterrpsie in ANOTHER temporal loop with the Romulans? That Romulan officer jumped to man the conn station awfully quick, and everybody whoever came to Enterprise was awfully familiar w...

Yeah, so it's still the difference between "and eye for an eye" and "offer the other cheek" (I don't know the latter bible phrase in English! )

Re: Under which Captain would you LEAST like to serve?

Well, it is a predicament if the enemy would eventually hurt himself while attacking or a prolonged attack might inflict serious damage to your ship. No problem in the vicinity of Starbases but alone in the Delta quadrant...
