Re: Was Janeway -that- bad?

Well, I have to agree with stitch626 (and others): With a bit more consistency in writing Mulgrew had had the potential to make a great, amazing captain. I always liked her performance. IMO, the problem was, that the writers wanted to make her "more like Kirk" at the beginning of Season 3 ...

Wow: Austrians in Star Trek

Today I learned - to my own lasting astonishment and irrational patriotic pride - that at least two fellow Austrians have appeared in Star Trek (TOS), AND in quite notable roles too!! :austria: Until now I have believed that only Reiner Schöne, a German actor represented german-speaking countries i...

Re: DS9 - DVD: Little Problem

I don't think that cleaning would fix the problem - every other DVD I watched lately worked just perfect. I wrote an e-mail to the shop where I've bought the set...I'll see. I've never heard of "resurfacing" - I don't know wether this technology has already found it's way to my country... ...

DS9 - DVD: Little Problem

Hello, I am just rewatching Star Trek DS9 on DVD and have much to my dismay noticed that one Disk (so far - I'm just in season three) is defect. Although I can't see any really serious damage to the DVD (it's the first disk in my region 2 slimline box set), the disk keeps stopping and then (if lucky...

Re: Why is Picard... French?

Indeed, but it's still rather bizzare to hear someone with a strong British accent being called French. Why not just call him English? Because then we wouldn't have seen a single major character from continental europe. I really would have enjoyed seeing an Italian ("Computer, Pizza Mafiosa - ...

Well I liked the title sequence as shown during the first seasons. The later "upgraded" version was musically...lacking. :bangwall:

Re: Mars Attack! - Where is Venus?

Well, when you offer a "Other" option at the poll, that's what you get. I myself was quite tempted to vote for it... I would have been the first, voted quite early.

Mars Attack! - Where is Venus?

Last week's ditl-poll didn't really suprise me, but it did evoke the question: Why is the Fandom of Star Trek so "male dominated"? Why does is it apparantely more appealing to men than it is to women? Is it the Genre of Science-Fiction or the Star Trek-Franchise in particular? Or is it jus...

Well, my hobbies are history (especially austrian history), music (I'm singer in several choirs and conductor of a children's choir), acting, reading (I suppose my nickname might be a bit of a giveaway  ), eating,...

Re: Questions you want answered

I would ask Mr. Berman why he abandoned his real job as a producer and started writing everything himself instead. I mean, the man did a great job while trying to recruit new, creative people to the franchise (along with Michael Piller!).

Re: Stagnation of Technology

Well, there is also present-day-technology that hasn't changed much over the past centuries. A cannon in the 15th century and a cannon today are not that different. I mean, basically you put ammunition in it and cause it somehow to "fly" towards your opponent. Or take guns or pistols. They...

Does it work now? I always saw Kirk where you saw a "sexy red x". :?

Maybe your browser considers the picture as too hot and has thrown in a "child-proof-lock". :P

Well, some of the costumes (for women  ) were quite nice to look at. http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp119/TheRichrocker/1890804171_79a989a48f.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp119/TheRichrocker/adonis_couple.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp119/TheRichrocker/cldmndrs604r.jpg...
