Blu-ray Tweaks
I've been watching the show on Blu-ray for the first time. Currently in the middle of the fifth season. One thing I really like is how they went in and made minor corrections to some really annoying inconsistencies. Like in "Encounter at Farpoint", where Picard orders a modified phaser bea...

Re: Self-publishing / publishing as e-books
I published my three Draconia books through Smashwords. I published them through Amazon Kindle, too, but I've had more success on Smashwords with their broad distribution.

Re: Single Season TV Series Favorites
I agree on Firefly. I also really loved: Quark (1977-78) -- A short-lived Sci-fi/comedy that followed an interstellar garbage collector. Alien Nation (1989-90) -- Starring Gary Graham and Eric Pierpoint, who play two detectives--one of them an alien, a former slave among hundreds of others who washe...

I met FarScape's Gigi Edgely at toy show in San Jose, CA a few years ago. Got her autograph.

Ah... Thanks for clearing that up.
So, the regeneration count starts over from Smith?

Final Doctor?
With Capaldi leaving, this will be the Doctor's 12th regeneration. It's been established, at least in the classic Who, that Time Lords can regenerate up to 12 times. So, does this mean the next incarnation of the Doctor will be the last? I've only watched a couple episodes of the new series so far a...

Re: Ships From My Books
EAS Ulysses Affiliation: Earth Alliance Launched: 2125 Weapons: 10 laser turrets, 4 lateral laser cannons, 2 light laser cannons (covering the forward launch bay) This ship not only features in Final Frontier, but also in a 6-book series I have planned called Galactic Odyssey. So, I'll be spending a...

Re: Ships From My Books
The downside is that you are still only firing one beam at a time, so if you are attacked by a swarm like from Star Trek Beyond you are only picking off a line of ships at a time. That would be a vulnerability. I like being able to fire on multiple targets at once. A lot of my ships are set up to d...

Re: Could you pass the UK citizenship test?
I just never expected April Fools to be such a significant holiday. Remembrance Day would seem more likely.
On the other hand, I can see the wisdom of making sure a potential citizen does not misunderstand the things they are likely to encounter on April Fools.

Best Screen Version of Sherlock Holmes
I recently started watching the Jeremy Brett series. I'm halfway through the Adventures at the moment. I've also been through all the Basil Rathbone movies and the 1954 TV version. I really liked Rathbone's Holmes, though I didn't like how Watson was portrayed in those movies. He seemed rather usele...

George Orwell's 1984
Recently, I got around to reading this book. Scary. Depressing. A fitting warning for our time, more so than when it was written with all the technology we have now. It should be required reading for everyone. While reading, I could not help but to think of current events and how people tend to let ...

Re: Could you pass the UK citizenship test?
Rejected: 18/24 Me, too. A few of them I got wrong because I was trying to not think American (April Fools and Voting age). A lot of them I just guessed--that worked out well a few times--and figured out through the process of elimination. Seriously, though, why would a question about April Fools b...
