Favre said he felt the game was not fun for him anymore..
With that reasoning I can't fault his decision.

He was still an outstanding quarterback.

His backup, named Rodgers, I believe,
played part of the regular season Green Bay/Dallas game.

Seemed to work alright.

I did say less advanced than federation...

Fusion power, not antimatter.

No Warp drive.

No transporters or replicators

The race that built the Sphere could have been less technologically advanced than the Federation, in some ways. They would have to have self repairing automated nano-equipment, perhaps artificial intelligence and a mastery of cold fusion..... but not even tech as advanced as replicators. Siphon off ...

They needed to expand, but were not explorers or travelers.

{I'm guessing the sphere construction was automated,
and the race died out before the Sphere's completion}

A Tholian Web might not net a ship easily, but a station would be toast.

A DS 9 episode mentions a Tholian ambassador on board.....
Wish we could have seen him/her/it

Three helium nuclei can fuse into one carbon nucleus... plus energy. Hydrogen, one proton and one electron, fusing into one neutron is not a favorable reaction. The reverse, a neutron decaying into 1 proton 1 electron and 1 anti neutrino is spontaneous. Anyhow, a race with the mastery of cold fusion...

My thought was the carbon in the carbon -neutronium is in the form of bucky-balls,
with a neutronium center.
Free neutrons, or neutronuim will decay {with a half-life of about 17 minutes} into a proton, an electron and an anti-neutrino.

Might be wrong about the half-life,
