I don't believe so - while alcohol is one of the major causes of poor driving, it isn't the only one. Sorry, you don't get to use that excuse. When I quoted those numbers, it was ONLY the deaths caused by alcohol, read my post again. 40% of auto deaths are caused by alcohol. Ban drinking entirely a...

All true, but all those problems are caused by excession, not by the very fact of the activity. Smoking, in whatever quantity, has been proven to be bad for your health. Well then obviously we should ban excessive drinking! I honestly do not follow your logic here. We need to ban something that doe...

The fact that they're right. That's an extraordinarily arrogant argument, you know. No you couldn't - alcohol has proven health benefits in small doses, porn does no harm whatsoever, and TV is an important means of communication, dissemination of information, and advertising. And drunk driving kill...

What gives one person the right to impose his views of what's good or bad on another person? That's what banning things is. As far as I'm concerned, if you're only hurting yourself and not anybody else, then it's nobody else's business what you do. Since, as has been mentioned, smoking is banned fro...

Oh, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles in Time. I'm not speaking to you ever again! *shudders* That's one of the worst atrocities it has ever been my displeasure to be forced to see. (And I was forced to see it over and over and over and over and over too, my baby sister was in tha...

My uncle raised meat rabbits. He gave us one once. This huge, dead bunny. He'd cleaned it already, but my mother still had quite a time figuring out what the heck to do with it! It was delicious though.

Yeah. If you want to help animal welfare (which is very different than animal rights) you should see about helping your local shelter. Most of the national organizations are animal rights organizations, which equals crazy. PETA is just the worst of them.

Well, I don't have the equivalent of full coverage, if I needed anything major, I'd be in trouble, but I'm on three different daily medications (yikes!) which I get assistance with, both for doctor's check-ups and for the meds themselves. That seems to be fairly standard in this area. I haven't look...

It depends a bit on where you live, too. Some states care more than others. Here in Oregon, it's fairly easy to find assisted health care if you're poor. Thank heavens, because I haven't got any insurance at all, and I'm a self-employed artist, so I'm not exactly rolling in the dough.

I think I've watched that movie about a million times, it was the only Trek movie we owned when I was a kid. I always liked the nuclear wessel bit, though really my favorite moment is silly, and not in there. It's when the jogger beans herself against the cloaked ship.

Yeah, a lot of the changes to the elven stuff was just gratuitous. But call me a fangirl, I like elves, so the bits where you see more of them than you would have otherwise didn't bother me as much as they probably should have. Mmmmmmmmmmmelves. The romantic bits with Arwen and Aragorn were... reall...

One word: Faramir.

I like the movie versions quite a bit, but there are a few things I wish they'd stuck closer to the book on, and Faramir's character is the biggest one.
