Wow, there's a crazy thought... can a small replicator replicate the parts needed to make a bigger replicator? And could you then use that to make an even bigger one? And then.... well you see where this is going.
Man, the possibilities of that are just mindblowing...

Best indicator I know of is that on DS9, the Federation delivered two industrial replicators to Bajor after the occupation, and twelve to Cardassia to rebuild that planet. If those made any kind of real contribution to the planet's industrial base, then a single such replicator must be impressive in...

Gotta agree with those two calls. After the great depiction of the military in the Starship Troopers book, I had real high hopes for the movie. And then... yuk. Signs aliens are so idiotic you can barely know where to start. I'd also go with Space : Above and Beyond. Realistic in some ways, but spac...

That's a rather good concept. I don't think you could get the borg to help out though. :) The idea was that the major powers had basically spread out through our galaxy and fought one another to a standstill. They finally just decided that they needed new territory to expand into, and none of them ...

An idea I had a long time ago... basically, an uber-ship buit by the major Galactic powers; Klingons, Dominion, Romulans... maybe even the Borg. Designed to go out and explore other galaxies. It would be set perhaps a century or so down the line from TNG. The idea is to be somewhat babylon 5-ish; no...

I like to assume that the E-D did a lot of firing when we were looking at the bridge, engineering, and the bridge of the BoP. But yeah, I wish to hell we had seen it! Having said all that, if you count the bangs we hear and what we see, the E-D took something like THIRTY hits in that battle. Includi...

Archer wouldn't know that the timeline was going to be restored - that wasn't what he was aiming for. So yes, he would be concerned about collateral damage. As for the Stukas. Remember the aliens were building weapons to help the germans win the war - or to serve their own purposes, in fighting off ...

For 1 - the facility was in the middle of New York. Levelling everything within a few miles would have caused massive civilian casualties. Not an option. For 2 - Remember the NX-01 was damaged to hell at this point. And it just wasn't designed for travelling in the atmosphere. If it goes flying roun...

I've seen a few of these. I find them pretty good; they've been very careful about what to fix and what to leave alone. I like that they have fixed some little things; remember how phasers fired beams sometimes and just made the screen go green sometimes? They now fire beams consistently. Stuff like...

In-Trek answer :[/b] in an ideal world, every job to be done by a military force would have its own specialised piece of equipment. The ideal Navy would have an air warfare ship that did that and nothing else; a mine hunter that did that and nothing else; an anti-submarine ship that did that and no...
