Re: Scimitar vs. Soverign
The fundamental purpose of the Scimitar was to fight under cloak. But there is no way, that the Remans could know, that the cloake would be perfecte. That Sf couldn't find a way to penatreate the cloake. THey have a long history of quickly countering new developments. The Klinkon BOP, was defeated ...

Re: Cardassian Ship Technology
He just cheerfully assumed it was so. But what was his assumption based on. Honestly, I believe in the last thread we had on this, we made an entire list of methods that Picard could have easily done to ensure the ship's destruction It's not how could he have destroyed the ship, but why he thought ...

Re: Scimitar vs. Soverign
No, you don't. If you can't use those guns, then they have no effect on the ship's effectiveness in combat. I'm sure that I wrote somewhere, that when you decloake you have more firepower avalible. In what tactical situation does that become usefull. Maybe when your cloake gets defeated and doesn't...

Re: Cardassian Ship Technology
But what should you do if you see your ship destroyed. And the sensors show the ship destroyed. Than you basicly think that the ship was destroyed.

Re: Scimitar vs. Soverign
I adressed this just a few posts back. Didn't notice. Then what's the point of all the extra guns in the first place? You have more firepower at your disposal. Would that work against the most powerfull ship that the fed has at it disposal. Maybe but when we think that the E-E fired all of its PT a...

Re: Scimitar vs. Soverign
From an in-universe perspective, I find the simpest sollution is simply that Geordi was mistaken when he called out the ship's armaments Or that the ship can't power all of its weapons when cloaked. We know that cloaks take massive amounts of power to operate. That ships can't use their shields and...

The first British colony in america.Rochey wrote:Which one? Wiki gives me 25 candidates for a Jamestown, all in different states (seriously, guys, get some fracking imagination when it comes to naming places). What would be the reaction if that happened to Jamestown.

Re: Has Trek taken its morals too far?
You are assuming that the fed could pull enough forces from other borders, to do that.Seafort wrote:Yep - and even after that the Federation didn't flatten Cardassia Prime.
What would be the reaction if that happened to Jamestown. Can you imagine the reaction if that were to happen to a US town?

Re: Dogfight 1: 'Valiant' Dominion Battleship vs Sovereign
THe battleship is 3 times as strong as a GSC. We can compare a sov to the gsc. Here Rochey is right, the battleship should be slightly stronger than the sov but it would lose out on manuverbility. It's to close to call. The battleship is close to twice the length of the Sov, and given it's far more ...

Re: WotW - MU Alliance v Alpha Quadrant
Two weeks, using BoBW as a rough guide, would be enough for the Feds to concentrate about 500 ships (probably fewer). Concetrating any more would involve pulling ships away from existing concentrations, which would leave to borders vulnerable to Cardassian, Klingon and Romulan opportunistic land-gr...

Re: WotW - MU Alliance v Alpha Quadrant
That assumes that the UFP has prior warning of the MU attack. Thats basing the scanario on two facts. two weeks travel from Vulcan will open inside the UFP/RSE border Two weaks is alot of time to prepare. And the fleet appers in the neutral zone, wich I belive is well coverd with sensors. Space is ...

Re: WotW - MU Alliance v Alpha Quadrant
only two weeks travel from Vulcan With the lack of cloaking devices any attack can be inticipated. Two weaks is alot of time, to preapere the defenceses. When a Massive Klingon-Cardasian fleet is detected on their border the fed will imidetly contact both goverments to detrmine what is going on. MU...
