Great: The War with unholy alliances Good: The Defiant and the runabouts. No runabout from the beginning exists at the end of the series. but they are faster than every shuttle - and this don't protect them from destruction. In the future someone should invent the instant runabout - instant shuttle...

"forgive me, doctor, I'm receiving a number of distress calls."

"I don't doubt it."

When i first saw the film I was... 7, 8 (when it was on TV). When I finally realised what he meant, I cracked up laughing on a re-run.

If I had to guess at a reasonable explanation as to why the Dominion fighter is so tough yet so vulnerable to weaposn fire, I would say that very strong hulls, SIF's, etc., are an integral element of Dominion design, but the fighter type itself is a little too small a/o underpowered to have true st...

1) (Technically) unshielded hits to the coolant systems, overheating it and it detonating (no different than turning off cooling systems in any power station today - and you wouldn't say they were "badly designed") - GENERATIONS If a modern nuclear reactor started to overheat, the control...

Voyager? ("Day of Honor [sic]" for one, although luckily for them, the ejection system seemed to be in a good mood that day. Exactly - the safety systems worked and the core didn't blow up, unlike the GCS. Good point. I don't recall the ship ever being in danger of blowing up, merely tha ...

But surely that's more of a computer security / firewall problem than the warp core? The warp core in Contagion was not the problem. It was the software that let them down. The very fact that they were relying on the computer to eject the core demonstrates the stupidity of the design. It relies on ...
