Re: Dominion war - galaxies without saucer section

It works to have ships with long lives in Trek, IMO, because the basic technology seems to be extremely stagnant. yeah, i think you are correct. is the federation near a technological revolution (transwarp could meet the requirements or is it only an evolution of the warp drive?) or really technolo...

Re: Klingon-Federation war

I wonder, however, why having a neutral zone between the two powers without a open conflict to request it. With Romulans and Cardassians this area was created just after a war ... so in real life in Korea. Paradoxically it would make sense in the way of fighting seen in DSC, with both powers aware t...

Re: Captain Jean-Luc Picard to Return?

Suppose they wrote Picard as somebody who has left Starfleet and become an archeologist. Suppose he's grumpier, more isolated from other people, less interested in Starfleet and the Federation. I could totally see that as "an older Picard". It would make perfect sense for the Picard we kn...

Re: Response to Endgame tech

what is the purpose of a weapon if you do not use it when you are attacked?

after all the borg have already adapted to "traditional" weapons, so you would banally go back to the usual situation of confrontation with them.

you are probably right.

A new series about starfleet academy, however, is one of my worst nightmares.

Re: Dominion war - galaxies without saucer section

We know that the war Galaxies had extra phaser strips on top of the nacelles (in reality a holdover from the modification of the model to the Galaxy X design in All Good Things). Don't think we ever saw extra strips anywhere else, though there's certainly enough space on the saucer for another coup...

Re: Captain Jean-Luc Picard to Return?

We're finally seeing Trek moving forward within its universe, finally continuing where Voyager/Nemesis left off. That's some good news. With the problem that future events are already partially written (romulus destruction for example) Even if it fits well with the "imaginary future" of Q...

Re: Dominion war - galaxies without saucer section

The class I think was never designed to be a battleship but a explorer first. I mean think about if it was going to be a battleship the saucer would be as small as possible but keep the long phaser strips. the first batch without a doubt, not so sure about the later costructions. I also think about...

Re: Dominion war - galaxies without saucer section

true But in that case you had an already completed galaxy class, riker evaluated two different tactical decision based on the available resources. What I mean is to see the thing from the point of view of the starfleet command, planning the activities of the shipyards, in a period of emergency in wh...

Dominion war - galaxies without saucer section

Hi I thought, why doesn't the Federation build the galaxy class ships without the saucer section? They would have to give up the phasers it houses and its impulse engines, but it would also significantly reduce the mass of the ship (to the advantage of maneuverability and perhaps even maximum warp s...
