Re: Galaxy Class Medical Facilities
If you mean specifically the ones like we see in the Main Patient Ward, there are somewhere between 9-12. However, there's also a primary, biohazard, and overflow ICU, at least 4 isolation rooms, a dedicated surgical suite, a critical care/triage area, and, in a pinch, as many as they can replicate ...

Re: Trekyards EP300 - USS Discovery Scale Revealed! (Analysi
Indeed. So to the point of the video, we now know that this thing is longer than a Sovereign and appears to my untrained eye to have at least the internal volume of an Excelsior, all with a little over 100 crew, because CANON!

I can't decide if it's sad or hilarious watching these two try to convince each other that it all makes perfect sense.

Re: Tarantino to go where no Trek has gone before?
I certainly hope not. I've never once seen a Tarantino film that I even slightly enjoyed.

Re: The (second) trial of Captain Picard
Well, even if he wasn't held directly responsible, between not following protocol leading to the loss of the D and the fact that it was the second ship he lost, I'd say it's a safe bet as to why we never saw an Admiral Picard.

Re: Most Aesthetically Pleasing Ship
In my headcanon, there were going to be 3 new designs: Oberth, Miranda, Excelsior. Just before production began, Admiral Kno-wi'tall walked into the Excelsior offices and said "Transwarp. Make it happen." They needed a stopgap cruiser and would never get another design approved, so based a...

Re: Why the critic/public disparity?
Excellent news! I suspect if it continues to do well, especially among the 18-24 demo where it's got a respectable 2.7, that a lot of the lower tier reviewers will suddenly find things they love.

Re: Why the critic/public disparity?
"But I wonder if the critics went in expecting "Family Guy In Space" and were left thinking of it as a failed comedy rather than as something that isn't really a comedy at all. But I think a lot of fans were, like I was, just hoping for a what would essentially be a "Star Trek&qu...

Re: Rumours, news and general speculation
Hmmm I may be working from bad memory or non-canon sources on this aspect, but my recollection is that Sarek wanted Spock to attend the Science Academy and Spock chose Starfleet instead, which is what resulted in them not speaking for years. edit: Indeed a quick look at Memory Alpha turns up this in...

Re: Rumours, news and general speculation
We do see Kirk and Spock with a variant of these (with a rounded back end) in Where No Man Has Gone Before along with The Cage style uniforms before switching to the TOS styles. Other than that, I believe they only appeared in What Are Little Girls Made Of and The Man Trap, both times in the hands o...

Re: Rumours, news and general speculation
Exactly this. Call it Abramsverse and I'll still think the Magical Mushroom Drive sounds ridiculous and that what I saw of the lead makes her the worst combination of unlikeable and boring, but 90% of my problems vanish, but insisting it's Prime is just insulting. Has there even been one moment, on...

Re: Rumours, news and general speculation
To me, there's certainly room for trek to grow, even in very dark and gritty directions. Change becomes more problematic, because I, and I think most others, hold what we have seen already to be "fact". If a series is set in a known period, it has to conform, at least on a basic level, wit...

Re: Rumours, news and general speculation
I personally am not watching for the sole reason that I refuse to subscribe to CBSAA for only one show, even if the pilot had blown me away. That's why I haven't really commented on any episodes since the first and won't. That said, I vote go for it. I'm genuinely curious to know what people think a...
