Re: Earth's
It would probably be alot more simple and efficient to add airlocks on the outside to dock the larger ships of the 24th century. Although I believe it could be possible, adding the larger doors could compromise the structural intregraty.

Re: Post Enterprise size
I agree, in theory, Starfleet could build a ship the size of Earth's Stardock. But it would take a huge amount of time (IRC, Stardock took 16 years to build), as well as alot of manpower and resources to build just one. And I always imagined Starfleet would build ships to fit their needs. Starfleet'...
Re: Earth's
If your wife says she wants a bigger closet, just changing the size of the door ain't gonna make her happy. No one ever asked about making the space inside larger, just the doors to allow larger ships to access a already large space that could already hold the ships in question. Graham Kennedy has ...
Re: Earth's
Is it possible that the doors could have been rebuilt to allow larger ships to enter? If a civilization could build such a structure, it seems conceivable they could modify it to suit their needs. Granted, a Galaxy class starship would find it a tighter fit when moving around then a Constitution.

Re: Largest owned/personal ship
I always saw the Ferengi ships as like the privateers from the Elizabethan Age. In my mind, the Ferengi government would build them, or subsidized the building of the ships, and then leased them to corporations or individual daimons for a cut of the profits and a promise to return to the Alliance if...

Re: BBC Reruns
I kinda like the 49er's, but that's mostly residue from when my sister lived here. She was a huge Joe Montana fan back in the day. It's hard not to like Joe Montana you know, except for when the G-men beat him like he stole something on the way to winning Super Bowl XXI. :happydevil: Got to agree w...

I've been here in San Diego almost 45 of my 47 years, so you probably know my feelings about pro football right now.

Canon v. Non-Canon
As I understand the gist, Star Trek canon is just the television shows (TOS thru Enterprise, not including the '70s cartoon) and the movies (not sure about the reboot). And non-canon is the other stuff, such as the novels and games. I know there may be some exceptions, but is that about it? And what...

Starfleet Academy
Has anything ever been mentioned about how big the academy is, student population wise? And do you think they have varsity teams that play in inter-college sports, and are members of a conference like the PAC-12? The Air Force, Army, and Naval academies have sports teams that play in various confere...

Re: Science Staffs and Labs
<<<You’d have thought these would be the sort of things you’d tell the captain about in advance.>>> It was done in the middle of the night, if I recall, when only the night staff would be up and only the most primary systems would be needed. Data knew, and being chief of the night staff that was pro...

Science Staffs and Labs
It has always been assumed during Star Trek, TNG, that the Enterprise had a rather large resident science staff (including, I assume, assistants/interns), as well as a number of laboratories. Plus the ability to take on many guest scientists. But I do not recall anything on the show saying how many,...

Starship Service History Page
On the starship service history page, I noticed that each line (most at least) are two different shades, one light and one dark. What is the reason for the two different shades? Unless I missed something, I did not see any explanation for this on the page. BTW, that was a cool idea for a page. Very ...

Re: Turkana IV
Guess the Federation is not as liberal-progressive as I always imagined it to be. Not caring what their colonies did as long as they do not bother anyone else.
