Re: Ep 11 : New Dimensions
I liked the episode. The 2D civilization reminded me of a animated circuit board. Cool concept. If I recall correctly, the post of chief engineer on the TNG Enterprise was at most a recurring role until LaForge took over. In fact, I think more then one person played it. Perhaps it will be the same t...

Re: Why Aren't the Bajorans Super Advanced?
Maybe you are taking the "standing erect" line too literal. Perhaps it is a metaphor for civilization itself.

Re: Age status
Hmph, I mean to say mid to late 30s there, not mid to late 40s. Another point to consider - Riker declined his own command to take the XO seat on the E-D in 2364, when he was also 30. He would have equalled Kirk if he'd taken it. And another - Picard took command of the Stargazer when he was 28. So...

Re: Ep 10 : Firestorm
I liked the episode. One of the better ones over the past few weeks. Especially loved the "watch out for pies" sequence. One of the funniest on the show so far. It struck me that Alara's people are this show's version of Vulcans. A culture that emphasizes science and the arts, super strong...

We did learn one thing in last night's episode. If I heard correctly, they call the replicators "food synthesizers"

Re: Why the critic/public disparity?
I think with Seth MacFarlane people were expecting a comedy set in a sci-fi universe. Maybe not as Jr.-high as Family Guy, but definitely a parody of Star Trek. I was expecting this as all the commercials I saw from the spring and summer emphasized this. And MacFarlane's name is probably why many st...

Re: Could CBS sue over The Orville?
Could the producers and writers of Orville claim that alot of the technology used are valid science, if only in theory? If someone actually invents a teleporter or warp drive, could CBS sue?

Never Seen on Star Trek
Cleaning staff. Have yet to see anyone vacuuming, washing a window, or walking around with a basket of laundry. Not even one of those little vacuuming robots in the hallways.

Re: Ep 6 : Krill (spoileriffic!)
Perhaps the admiral needed her best officers for another mission and Mercer would have been better then anyone she could have spared. He may not have been the most well regarded officer in the past, but he has done some good things since taking over the Orville that may let the admiral give him the ...

Re: What I would do with Patrick Stewart
I like the idea of Stewart being a famous captain who was Mercer's hero growing up, more like a swashbuckling Kirk then Picard. But there was some kind of scandal that stalled his career (either an affair with the wrong person, say a ambassador's daughter...or excessive recklessness or arrogance res...

Re: Favorite Movie Soundtracks (or parts of them)
I also love the work John Barry did for the James Bond series.
As far as actual soundtracks go, I like Dick Tracy, featuring Madonna; Streets of Fire, particularly the two songs by Fire, Inc; and The Mask (love Hey, Pacchuco)

Re: What movies have scared you (at any age)?
I saw a movie when I was a kid way back around '80 or '81. It was about this young guy, early 20s, real spoiled brat who goes through his trust fund by the time he graduates college on all the frivalous things young guys spend money on, who killed his father or grandfather for the family mansion and...
