Re: 10 Flaws Star Trek - USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D
From the dialogues it is often said that without the shields the Enterprise would be defenseless ...the dependence of the ships of ST from the shields seems really strong, this makes the ablative armor of the defiant in effect a remarkable invention, it seems that for the first time (at least since...

Re: Fix an Episode with 1 Change
Not sure if it counts since it is not an "episode" per se...but here it is: At the end of Star Trek Generations........the Enterprise D does not get destroyed. Apart from being the most shamefull thing any Enterprise probably had ever to endure, apart from making zero sense how the whole f...

Re: Women in The Orville and sci fi
So my question is, where is all the 'toxic masculinity' that is reported by certain other actresses? Granted, I do not follow it that closely but could you eleborate? I haven't heard/read anything in that regard. Is orville being accused of having toxic male characters? Or maybe not everybody on se...

Re: 10 Flaws Star Trek - USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D
Alsmost every item on the list applies to almost all Star Trek ships or Enterprises (exposed bridge, exposed nacelles etc.) or is not a fault of the ship design (like terrible security). The third photon torpedo launcher is, afaik, not strictly speaking canon. (or does the TNG Technical Manual Count...

Re: VENOM - Official Teaser Trailer (HD)
Watched it also, it is less of a horror/superhero movie, and soon becomes more like a buddy cop movie, with the Venom symbiote snarking off Eddie (and actually giving him good advice when talking with his ex girlfriend). One bit of humor in the movie: After Eddie drops off a McGuffin on his ex-boss...

Re: Types of Sci-Fi Warship (Frigate, Destroyer etc.)
Honeslty...this never bothered me...I never assumed that the "destroyer" in "Star Destroyer" is in any way connected to a real live naval term, hence I never understood the appearent "need" for bigger ships and I have to say I enjoyed the Star Wars EU more when a Star D...

Re: Star Trek: Discovery - Season 2 Trailer
I'm sorry to say ... but I think tos-style interfaces (and I'm starting to think even tng style) would be ridiculous to show today. Which is why a prequel series would not be a good idea. Or at least, say that STD is set in an alternate timeline. Isn't it? Between the weird looking klingons, weird ...

Re: Captain Jean-Luc Picard to Return?
Hard to think that a bit 'of sentimentality can solve a crisis like that. Fair point. Depends mostly how you sell it. An Enterprise with Picard on board.....might bring parties to the table who otherwise would not. The cost of repairing and upgrading a ship after 25 years and a crash landing should...

Re: Captain Jean-Luc Picard to Return?
I believe the planet they crashed on was uninhabited, so they don’t have to salvage the saucer. Also Picards last log on the ship : “Three Starfleet vessels have arrived in orbit and have begun to beam up the Enterprise survivors. Our casualties are light but unfortunately the Enterprise herself ca...

Re: Captain Jean-Luc Picard to Return?
Here's Mike Stoklasa and Rich Evans talking about what they would do in a new Picard series. https://www.youtube.com/embed/xe1hKZjCVyM I gotta say, I like the basic idea - the USS Galaxy reappears, 25 years after having vanished. A crew goes to bring it back, with Picard, Geordi and Leah Brahms alo...

Re: Les Moonves resigns
So no, I don't find it fishy that woman are coming forward now. They're coming forward now because this is the first time that coming forward is really an option. Good point, agreed. Sexual harassment is definitely something worth losing one's job over, IMO. Should they lose it over unproven allega...

Re: Les Moonves resigns
I dunno. If it were an allegetion, sure. When a dozen different people make similar allegations, I tend to believe it. Maybe.....but too me this seems all a bit fishy. Who knows what happened 20 years ago. Not saying those allegations are wrong..not for me to decide. But this seems all a bit to con...

Re: Les Moonves resigns
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-45467975 He's also reportedly the guy who thought that Star Trek and Star Wars were the same thing, to the extent that he asked an assistant how much CBS had made from the last Star Wars movie and had to be told that the House of Mouse owned it, not CBS. Not...

Re: Bridge Commander - 23rd century
I loved Bridge Commander but it had one big flaw.....as soon as the story-campaign was over it couldn't keep my interest. The reason being that the space battles itself just were not interesting and complex enough. It seems as soon as they try to make a "realistic" space battle game with 3...
