Re: "Star Trek: Picard" Teaser
I got the feeling it was a short run and one series only. I don't know why. According to IMDB it is a 10 episode season. Makes sense from the point of view of him not willing/able to do multiple 25 episodes seasons anymore. But if it will only run for one season....interesting concept from a busine...

Re: "Star Trek: Picard" Teaser
It is a good teaser, I like it...but.....as much as I am hopefull and gleefull that we will get TNG cast back (I suppose there will be plenty of cameos just for the cheap nostalgia value).........isn't Sir Patrick getting a bit old for that? Now I don't know what condition he is in but at 78 years.....

Re: Proposed : Time travel, if possible, will never be inven
Interesting train of thought although I wonder what exactly a time traveller has to do to ensure that time travel never will be invented (if we suppose it will be possible at some point) short of destroying all of humanity? Now I know...Sci Fi has a huge hard on for the "Butterfly Effect" ...

Discovery Season 2 - (spoilers)
Finished season 2 now and I have to say....the whole series is a damn shame with LOTS of wasted potential and some uncomprehensable decisions ruining the whole show. There is actually quite a few good things to say about the show. The production values are great. The costumes, aliens and sets look b...

Re: Federation starships - the Constellation class
It is 2275 according to memory beta...so take that as you wish....obviously there is no hard canon source for that. That being said..the constellation class is one of my all time favourite ships. The design is just so utalitarian, practical, rugged looking and makes so much sense. Let's be fair, the...

Whoever was in charge of sound effects and music does not get enough recognition imho.
Nothing really exciting happens and still....this creates more tension than the 40+ starship sluggfest of the binary stars in STD.

Re: Deflectors (Spoileriffic)
Let's just hope they don't get too hung up on it. I think we already covered all or most of the more obvious modern "issues" and so far they have managed to tackled those without becoming "too" preachy. Having the Moclans become "enemies" because of their intolerant cul...

Re: USS Enterprise's Neck Width
Come on, a chair would fit easily in a turbolift. As would a fairly sizeable desk, if you just tipped it on end. Not sure you couldn't lie somebody down in one, too. I'm not saying there's never going to be anything too big to move, I just doubt it's an issue that would come up anything like regula...

Re: Deflectors (Spoileriffic)
I guess the writing is on the wall. At some point there will be problems with the Moclans.....at which point Bortus will have to break up with his husband. It is already hinted at multiple times and this is how it will play out. I find that a bit unfortunate...they are still the most functioning...f...

Re: USS Enterprise's Neck Width
At ten or eleven feet wide, is there going to be a problem with moving stuff, though? Remember, as far as we know the saucer section doesn't detach on the TOS Connie. So it's not like a problem with the engines might require everyone to be evacuated. Nor, that we know of, is there any particular ne...

Re: USS Enterprise's Neck Width
I think it gives the ship quite a distinctive look and I do like - I belive - Doug Drexlers interpretation that including such things that look like an obvious weakpoint, like the neck and nacelle struts make the ship look more advanced in a way. However, if we assume that structural integrity is no...

Re: Fix an Episode with 1 Change
From what I've read, the thinking was that the Galaxy class had been designed in the days of the 4:3 TV screen and was designed to be comfortable on that ratio. When they moved to the movie world they're on screens that are way wider, so they felt they needed a new ship design. It's no accident tha...

Re: 10 Flaws Star Trek - USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D
I'd settle for just outlining how powerful the weapons and shields are. "A photon torpedo at maximum power is the equivalent of the largest hydrogen bomb. It could be expected to completely destroy a whole city." "The shields of the ship could be expected to withstand approximately a...

Re: Fix an Episode with 1 Change
My one change for that would be simply this : put Lursa and B'Etor on a Vor'Cha class cruiser. Take a few shots to show them exchanging fire, with the E-D hitting their shields as they fire through and hit the hull. And fire a ten torpedo spread Riker asked for, as opposed to the single torp Worf f...
