Plotline

Agent Wells attempts to make Picard and Guinan confess to being aliens. Picard categorically denies that he is alien. Eventually, he separates them and continues to question Picard. Guinan is approached by Q, in the guise of an FBI agent. She uses her empathetic powers to work out that Q is dying and that Picard's "trial" is his attempt to give his own life meaning. Q points out that all humans are stuck in the past and Guinan communicates this to Picard.

Picard sees Wells is also stuck in the past and his cruisade to uncover aliens is actually more about something in his past. He tells Wells this and Wells reveals that he had a close encounter with aliens when she was a teenager. He has been driven by this since that time. Picard is able to work out that the aliens that he experienced were Vulcans and what Wells experienced was a mind meld, attempting to wipe his memory of the event. Picard also reveals that he is not an alien but from the future, on a mission to save Earth and the rest of the galaxy. Wells finally has closure and releases Picard and Guinan.

Meanwhile, Raffi and Seven find the Borg Queen collecting car and phone batteries in an attempt to modify Agnes's body, making it capable of assimilation. They track her down and see she has killed a human, but Agnes is able to overpower them both. It is only with Agnes's intervention that they are able to escape.

After learning about her origins she confronts Soong. She cures her genetic condition using a serum provided by Q and leaves Soong.

The Borg Queen goes to see Soong and convinces him that he can save his legacy by helping her steal La Sirena. Soong provides her with a team of mercenaries that she converts into Borg drones.
