Plotline

Finding no evidence of her on the ship, and no record of her leaving, Stamets and Burnham surmise that Tilly must have been transported into the mycelial network. She wakes up there with the May parasite. May wants Tilly to help stop a "monster" that is ravaging their world.

Discovery finds the shuttle that Spock used to escape the psychiatric unit only to find Mirror Georgiou onboard. Section 31's Captain Leland assigns Tyler to Discovery as a liaison to ensure that they do not interfere with their own investigation into Spock.

Discovery conducts a partial-jump into the mycelial network, giving Stamets and Burnham a limited time to find Tilly before the network destroys the ship. They discover that the "monster" is Stamets' husband, Hugh Culber, who was previously killed by Tyler. They calculate that as Stamets was connected to the mycelial network when Culber died, it allowed Culber's energy to be saved by the spores. Burnham persuades May to use the parasite cocoon on Discovery to rebuild Culber's body in normal space. Stamets and Burnham leave the network with Culber and Tilly.
