Notes

The Sydney class transports were a common sight in the Federation around the 2280s and 2290s. Based on the technology produced for the Constitution refit project, the Sydneys brought a new level of speed and comfort to their passengers.

They remained in service throughout a highly successful life before finally being retired in the 2330s. One of the class, the USS Jenolen, was thought destroyed when she vanished in 2294 on the way to the Norpin V retirement colony. In 2369 she was discovered crash-landed on a Dyson sphere by the Enterprise-D. Two of the personnel on board had survived the crash and placed themselves in transporter suspension to await rescue. Unfortunately only one, Captain Scott, survived this unorthodox use of the transporter to be rescued by the Enterprise.

Although the Jenolen was badly damaged, when the Enterprise-D became trapped within the sphere Captain Scott and Lieutenant Commander La Forge managed to get her serviceable again, and the ship was instrumental in rescuing the Galaxy class starship. [2]

Comments

Seen in "Relics", the Jenolen seems to be a personnel transport in the 238 metre range, to judge from the nacelles. The specs are pointed at an unarmed personnel transport with a flight performance pitched around that of the Constitution class.

The bulk of the notes is based, of course, around our only look at this ship in "Relics". Beyond that there's not much to
say about this one.
