Chief O'Brien suffers a dose of radiation poisoning. In the aftermath, he begins to exhibit strange jumps in time. This proves to be a result of an interaction between the radiation and the quantum singularity of a cloaked Warbird orbiting the station, part of a Romulan plot to destroy Deep Space Nine and close the wormhole. O'Brien is killed as events unfold, and replaced by another version of himself from a parallel timeline. [1]
