Universe : Prime Timeline
Name : Zefram Cochrane [1]
Species : Humans

Cochrane was the legendary Human inventor of warp drive and a highly revered figures in the 24th century. Officers from the Enterprise-E had the opportunity to meet Cochrane when they travelled to 2063 to prevent theBorg from altering the past. They found that Cochrane was not at all like his descriptions in the history books; he was a drunk whose primary intention in creating warp drive was to become rich. Cochrane was intimidated by the reverence showed for him by the Enterprise-E officers and had to be forced at gunpoint into the cockpit of the Phoenix to make his historic flight. [2] Eventually Cochrane left Earth never to return, and was believed to have died in space - some speculated that he had been testing an experimental warp ship, and his dissapearence was considered one of the great mysteries of the next century. [3] In the 23rd century Captain Kirk discovered him still alive on an M class asteroid; Cochrane had been living with a non-corporeal entity who had regenerated his body to keep him young. [1]
