A businessman who dealt in perfume, Retaya was suspected of being a hired assassin. He was thought to have planted the bomb which destroyed Garak's tailor shop in 2371, but no proof could be found and in fact he was innocent of the crime. Retaya was killed when his ship exploded after leaving Deep Space Nine; the Romulans confessed to having arranged the explosion to execute Retaya for various crimes against the Empire. [1]
