Iko

Universe : Prime Timeline
Name : Iko [1]
Species : Nygean

A Nygean, Iko was one of the prisoners aboard the Nygean prisoner transport ship which Voyager assisted in 2377. When he sustained a beating from his guards Voyager's EMH treated him for neurological traume using some of Seven of Nine's nanoprobes. Not only did they repair the damage, they reconnected a node in his brain which had previously been detached due to a birth defect. The node regulated some aspects of the decision making process, effectively acting as the person's conscience. With the defect repaired Iko rapidly developed a conscience of his own and repented his past crimes. Although Yediq doubted his sincerity, he came to trust Iko after he stopped an attempted prison break and saved Yediq's life. Iko pleaded with the family of his victims for a reduced sentence in light of his new circumstances, but the plea left them unmoved and he was executed shortly after returning to Nygean custody. [1]
