Stubbs was a scientific genius who devoted much of his life to studying the periodic explosion of the Kavis Alpha neutron star. His project to launch a probe which would study the 2366 explosion was delayed by an infestation of nanites which occurred aboard the Enterprise-D, but was ultimately successful. [1]
