A Vulcan male, Sobon was a respected physician and member of the Vulcan Science Academy. He was a member of the Vulcan team which worked on Earth following first contact, where he was one of the few who advocated a close relationship with Humans, including the sharing of medical technology. Thanks to these efforts Humanity made several important medical advances after first contact, extending the average human lifespan. [1]

In 2164, Sobon was part of the group of doctors sent to Sauria to find a cure for the plague that raged on the planet and treat the infected citizens. [2]

In 2227 Sobon resigned from the Vulcan Science Academy to devote himself to the study of the mental arts. He subsequently became a master of mental healing. He generally eschewed titles and formal positions, living a simple lifestyle in an isolated village in the Llangon mountains on Vulcan. [1]

In 2266, Sobon contacted Doctor M'Benga on Starbase 47 (Vanguard) and offered his services to assist in treating T'Prynn. [1]
